ThreatLocker is used by Triella with all of its clients to ensure that only applications that are approved can be run on a given computer. Should a person try to install an application on the computer, ThreatLocker will prevent this from happening and prompt the user to request permission for that application to be installed.
When Threatlocker is installed on your computer, a small application icon with a Keyhole logo will be visible on the system tray on the bottom right-hand side of your screen.
No matter how restricted your system is, you might need to install new software in your computer/servers that is essential for your day to day business functions. When attempting to run an application that has not been approved, you will receive a notification with two pop-up messages as below.
The first pop-up notification shows that you don’t have permission to access the file/item.
The second popup notification shows that Threatlocker blocked your request. If you do not intend to run this application, you can close the window or select “Don’t show again.”
To request permission, select the “Request Access” button, and another window will pop up as below.
If your IT administrator is present, you can select the option “Login as Admin,” and your administrator can proceed with permitting the application.
You can select the “Send Request” option to send your request to your IT administrator, allowing them to review and ensure that the application is not malicious and approve it.
You will then be notified with an email once the application approval process is completed.
You can then safely install the software.
