January 14, 2020 is fast approaching. After this date, Microsoft will no longer offer extended support for Windows server 2008 and 2008 R2 – including security updates and patches. Existing environments that are still using these servers beyond the EOL date will have to migrate to Windows Server 2019 or 2016 or consider moving to a Private Cloud environment like Triella’s TriCloud.
Why hasn’t your firm upgraded to a newer version sooner? For some it is the age old adage of “if it isn’t broke why fix it” and for others it is the cost associated with bringing all applications up to date that are running on the Windows 2008 server. However, firms should be concerned most about the potential costs of running on an unsupported Windows platform. Continued use without patching and security updates may leave the firm susceptible to potential cyber attacks, increased maintenance costs and missing out on features provided by newer versions of Microsoft server.
Triella can help your firm formulate and execute strategies for a successful migration away from Windows 2008/R2. We can also assist your firm with all the applications that are in use to ensure they are compatible with the new system. Call us at 647.426.1004 for help!
